Trina received the "I Am Hip Hop Award" during BET's 2022 Hip Hop Awards. The tenacious Miami rapper came on the music scene in the late 90s as the protege of her fellow Miami rapper Trick Daddy, appearing on his song "Nann."

Trina's witty and sexually brazen style was consistent with the new images of female rappers when she got on the music scene, such as Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown, who unapologetically marketed themselves as sexual and hardcore female artists.

During her career, she's released six studio albums, received multiple award nominations, and was recognized by Billboard as an influential female rapper. The Miami entertainer has won awards from ASCAP, BMI, EME, All-Star, and Billboard. She is also a "Love & Hip Hop: Miami" cast member.

The star dedicated her award to her 17-year-old niece, Toni "Suga" Chester, who she recently lost to gun violence.

Congrats, Trina!
