Grady ‘Demond’ Wilson, who played Lamont, Red Foxx’s son, on Sanford and Son, has passed away from cancer at 79. His son, Demond Wilson, confirmed the news to TMZ. His son stated, “I loved him, he was a great man."
Demond starred as Lamont on the hit show for five seasons, from 1972 to 1977. Despite the show's popularity, he and the legendary Red Foxx reportedly had a strained relationship that was never repaired. He also had roles on Baby...I'm Back!, Me and the Kid, and The New Odd Couple. Despite a long hiatus from Hollywood, Demond had acting credits through 2023.

According to KLOVE, after stepping away from Hollywood, Wilson was ordained in the Church of God in Christ. He dedicated himself to street ministry, drug rehabilitation, and established the Restoration House of America in 1995 to assist former inmates through vocational training and spiritual guidance.
His publicist, Mark Goldman of Goldman McCormick PR, provided a statement to ABC:Â "The family of Demond Wilson is deeply saddened by his passing. Personally, I had the privilege of working with Demond for 15 years, and his loss is profoundly felt. He was an unbelievable man, and his impact will never be forgotten. The family appreciates the support and understanding of the community during this difficult time."
Rest in peace. He will be missed.
