Former Olympian Usain Bolt has lost more than $12 million in an investment account due to fraud, leaving him with a balance of roughly $12,000.
Bolt's attorney gave the following statement to the Associated Press "If this is correct, and we are hoping it is not, then a serious act of fraud, larceny or a combination of both have been committed against our client." His attorneys will reportedly take legal action against the private investment firm if the monies are not returned within ten business days. Jamaica's Financial Services Commission is now involved in the situation.
The former Olympic gold medalist retired from track & field in 2017 after receiving eight Olympic gold medals. His record time of 9.57 in the 100-meter dash still stands.
