Alfa Barrie, 11, and Garrett Warren, 13, were reportedly last seen in the Lenox Ave area of Harlem on May 12th, before their bodies were discovered separately in the Hudson River and Harlem River the following week, according to the New York City Police Department. Garrett's body was discovered in the Harlem River, and Alfa's body was found in the Hudson River shortly after the discovery of Garrett. NYC law enforcement believe the children were playing near the water and drowned. According to CNN, A teenage boy reportedly told authorities he saw the two boys playing near the water and never saw either one leave the area.

The police don't suspect any foul play; According to CNN, "Garrett died by accidental drowning, and the cause and manner of Alfa's death is pending following an examination Sunday, according to the medical examiner's office." However, Alfa's uncle Ahmadou Diallo questions the series of events. The family wants an independent autopsy. According to ABC7NY, Diallo stated, "We want all the questions answered." Diallo also provided a comment to PIX11 News. To follow this story and other news, click the link to become a Volume 82 site member.
