Former No Limit rapper Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape this week in Louisiana. The charges are related to an alleged incident of rape and domestic assault that took place in 2022. He has been in custody since the incident.
This is not the first time the former rapper has faced allegations of sexual assault. In 2004, he was found guilty of extortion and sexual assault after his hairstylist reportedly stole approximately $80,000 in checks from him. A videotape later emerged showing the hairstylist performing oral sex on Mystikal and two of his bodyguards. Although he claimed the encounters were consensual, a judge sentenced him to six years in prison. His bodyguards were charged with sexual battery.
Following his release from prison in 2010, Mystikal was charged with domestic battery. In 2017, he faced charges of rape, but those charges were later dropped.
Mystikal's sentencing is scheduled for June 6, and he faces up to 20 years in prison. The 55-year-old has consistently maintained his innocence regarding the initial charges.
