A Mississippi news anchor, Barbie Bassett from WLBT, was supposedly fired for quoting Snoop's famous quote, "fo shizzle, my nizzle," during a live broadcast. Snoop's signature statement is slang for "for sure, my nigga." Nigga is a phrase that Blacks coined while doing away with the racial slur, nigger. The cast was talking about the rapper's beverage line when the veteran reporter made the statement.

Charlamagne tha God from The Breakfast Club does not support WLBT's decision to terminate Barbie. He said, "I don't think she should have been fired for that. She might not even know what "nizzle" means, yo. Come on, like stop. That's not a reason to fire that woman."

The network has reportedly reprimanded her before this incident for using the term 'grandmammy' with a black reporter. Mammy is a derogatory term for Black women, especially southern Black women. According to Fox News, "In October 2022, Bassett, who was WLBT's first-ever chief meteorologist, apologized after using the phrase "grandmammy" while speaking with a Black female reporter, who she also called "girl" and "sis." WBLT has reportedly taken down her profile as an employee for the station.
