The late rap legend Tupac Shakur was honored by the Baltimore Orioles during their game against the Athletics on Friday.
Tupac had ties to both cities. He lived in Baltimore and attended the Baltimore School for the Arts along with Jada Pinkett Smith before moving to Oakland, where he launched his rap career with Digital Underground.

According to the Associated Press, many fans of Tupac lined up before the game for the bobblehead giveaway featuring the rapper, as well as to witness the ceremonial pitch thrown by his sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, in tribute to the slain artist. Baltimore Orioles manager Craig Albernaz also participated, expressing his enthusiasm by saying, “I grabbed three of them” about the bobbleheads. He appeared to be a huge Tupac fan and highly excited about the game. He shared that his favorite Tupac song is "Pain" from the Above the Rim soundtrack, and his favorite Pac album was “All Eyez On Me.”
Set threw the ceremonial pitch for a crowd of nearly 40,000 fans. As a primary beneficiary of Pac's estate, she remains closely connected to his legacy as the President of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which supports battered women and children, homelessness, and community healing.

In 2022, Set helped launch the traveling Tupac Shakur museum, "Wake Me When I'm Free," which opened in Los Angeles. The museum features many important artifacts from Pac's life and career, including lyrics, music, poetry, wardrobe, a posthumous book of poetry, and his life story. It also pays homage to his late mother, Afeni Shakur, who passed away in 2016 before the museum was opened.

Additionally, Set serves as a creative advisor to Amaru Entertainment, the company founded by their mother to manage Tupac’s unreleased music.
The Tupac bobblehead features him wearing his iconic bandana, his signature nose ring, a long-sleeve white shirt, a medallion, an Orioles jersey, jeans, and sneakers, while holding a baseball bat.

The Grammy nominated rapper was a multi-dimensional entertainer, but his rap career brought him immense success before his tragic shooting death in 1996. He is one of the highest-selling rappers of all time, with reported worldwide album sales of around 75 million, though there are discrepancies in these numbers. On Spotify, Tupac has nearly 30 million listeners and is ranked at number 247 globally in terms of artist streams. His music has been streamed billions of times, with tracks like "California Love" and "Hit 'Em Up" surpassing 1 billion streams on the Spotify platform alone.
Duane "Keefe D" Davis, a former Crip gang member charged with orchestrating Tupac's 1996 killing in 2023, has had his trial delayed until August 10, 2026.
Long live Tupac!
