Snoop Dogg Now Owns Death Row Records-The Label That Made Him a Star!

Kamilah Stevens

Snoop Dogg recently acquired Death Row records. During the 90s, his career expanded while he was an artist on the record label; this partnership made him a star.

After many highs and lows, plus the incarceration of the former label head, Suge Knight, the former musical powerhouse, which had top artists such as Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Tupac Shakur, has been non-existent for years.

Death Row was a high-grossing label but not very reputable. The company operated unethically and began feuding with the New York record label Bad Boy Records. This feud was considered the east coast-west coast battle and the catalyst that brought about the deaths of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls from Bad Boy records.

Death Row began to decline with the loss of its talent. Its former producer, Dr. Dre, left and formed Aftermath Records. Tupac's murder left a void at the label and the entertainment industry, as he was the most famous rapper at the time of his death. One of its multi-talented vocalists, Jewell, never had her album released. Snoop Dogg also left and signed with Master P's label No Limit Records.

This endeavor should be interesting. Best of luck to Snoop Dogg with restructuring Death Row Records!
