A large number of Nicki Minaj's fans, including women, fellow minorities, and members of the LGBTQ community, have criticized her decision to join the late Charlie Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk on stage at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest this weekend in Arizona. Prior to Charlie's death, he publicly stated that Nicki was not a good role model for young Black girls.

According to multiple media outlets, Nicki lost around 10 million followers after clips surfaced showing some controversial comments she made during the conference. Former Love & Hip Hop star Tammy Rivera described Minaj as "the epitome of a bootlicker" in response to her remarks at AmericaFest. While discussing American beauty standards, Minaj stated, “We were not being represented and not being admired for our beauty. If we felt like that as Black women, why would we want to do that to other women? Why would we now need to make other people downplay their beauty, so that we can feel—no, that’s not how it works. I don’t need someone with blonde hair and blue eyes to downplay their beauty because I know my beauty,” she said.

The rapper known for "Super Bass" made several troubling remarks, calling Vice President Vance an "assassin." Many of Nicki Minaj's followers were surprised by her statement that she has the "utmost" respect and admiration for President Trump, especially given the ongoing social and political turmoil surrounding his administration in the United States.

Years ago, the musician said she was "not gonna jump on the Trump bandwagon," because she disapproved of his immigration policies. In October, Minaj, an immigrant from Trinidad, expressed her discontent with ICE arrests. On Instagram, she wrote, “I came to this country as an illegal immigrant. I can’t imagine the horror of being in a strange place & having my parents stripped away from me at the age of 5.” According to CNN, she continued, “This is so scary to me. Please stop this,” she wrote. “Can you try to imagine the terror & panic these kids feel right now? Not knowing if their parents are dead or alive, if they’ll ever see them again—“I get that a lot of people don’t like him for obvious reasons. But what stuck with me was the children being taken away from their parents when they came into this country,” Minaj said, “That really bothered me because I was one of those immigrant children coming to America to flee poverty. And I couldn’t imagine a little child going through all of that, trying to get to another country because they didn’t have money in their country, or whether you’re fleeing from war.”

The rapper received an invitation from Mike Waltz, the U.S. Ambassador for the United Nations, to speak about the reported persecution of Christians in Nigeria. This invitation seems to have been a potential pathway for Minaj to align herself with MAGA and the Trump Administration. Shortly before the invitation was extended, the "Pink Friday" rapper shared a TikTok story from the White House that highlighted issues related to anti-transgender policies and anti-immigration sentiments. The TikTok story used her music.

The Jamaica-Queens entertainer is familiar with facing criticism and engaging in feuds within the entertainment industry. Most recently, she faced backlash after she publicly criticized Cardi B and her children online. Minaj has also recently taken aim at Jay-Z. Throughout her career, she has had public disputes with other artists, including Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Remy Ma, Megan Thee Stallion, Mariah Carey, and SZA.

Several social media users have shared various opinions regarding Minaj's recent stance. On CNN's Facebook post about the conference, one user commented, "She's shopping preemptively for a pardon. Look it up," suggesting that Minaj is seeking a pardon for her brother, Jelani Miraj, who was sentenced to prison for child sexual assault.

Additionally, her husband, Kenneth Petty, was convicted of rape in 1995. Although he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted first-degree rape, claiming that he and the alleged victim had consensual sex as teenagers, Petty has maintained his innocence. He was sentenced to 18 to 54 months in prison and was released in January 1999.

A user commented, "It's called pardons." Another added, "Someone wrote a check. The end!" The rapper's tactics have even drawn comparisons to those of Kanye West, with one person asking, "Will she go down the Kanye route?" Another user remarked, "If doing anything for clicks, attention, and money were a person, she would be the new Kanye. It worked out great for him."

Minaj argued that President Trump has been constantly "lied about." She believes that the administration is filled with people who have "heart and soul," and she feels a connection to them.
