Michael B. Jordan won his first Oscar (Best Actor) for his role in Sinners. Jordan won the award against a talented pool of nominees, including Timothée Chalamet, Ethan Hawke, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude, stating, “God is good... God is good.” He specifically thanked his parents and siblings for their invaluable support, highlighting that his father flew in from Ghana to be there for him. He said, "My dad came here from Ghana; he flew in from Ghana to be here!"

To the film's writer and director, Ryan Coogler, he stated, “So honored to call you a collaborator and a friend and you gave me an opportunity and space for me to be seen. I love you too, bro.”

In addition, he expressed gratitude to Warner Brothers, his cast members, and praised the late legend Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Forrest Whitaker, and Will Smith, along with his ancestors.

In Sinners, he portrayed two characters, the non-law-abiding twin brothers (Smoke and Stack) who returned to their hometown in Mississippi during the Jim Crow era and unexpectedly encountered demonic supernatural forces.

Sinners holds the record for the most Oscar nominations, with a total of 16. In addition to Jordan's win, the production secured 4 awards: Best Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler), Best Cinematography (Autumn Durald Arkapaw), and Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson).
