Jackson State University Fans & Players Are Upset That Deion Sanders Is Leaving To Coach In Colorado

Writer: Volume 82 MagazineVolume 82 Magazine

Former NFL star Deion Sanders, also known as "Prime Time," is stepping down from Jackson State University as the head football coach to become the head coach at The University of Colorado.

Sanders significantly turned around JSU’s football program since joining the university in 2020. This season, the Tigers won their second Southwestern Athletic Conference thanks to Deion’s work.

JSU fans and athletes were shocked and disappointed by the change. His son, Shedeur Sanders, starts as the team’s quarterback. His son, Shilo, also played under his father as safety. His daughter Shelomi also attends the university as a freshman basketball player.

Some onlookers view his departure as a selfish act that will strip the HBCU of an opportunity of a lifetime, especially for players the university explicitly recruited to play for Sanders. However, it is rumored that some of the team will be transferring with him. Sanders has already attended a press conference as head coach for the University of Colorado.

We wish him well.
