Entertainment manager Eugene "Big U" Henley's son was murdered on Halloween night in Los Angeles. According to multiple media reports, Jabari Henley, 34, was shot to death outside a smoke shop located on 69th Street and Figueroa Street in South L.A.
As reported by KTLA, gunfire erupted after Jabari approached a vehicle that quickly drove off. The 34-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jabari Henley and Big U
Big U has managed the careers of Kurupt and the late artist Nipsey Hussle. Despite publicly renouncing his younger lifestyle as a former leader of the Rolling 60s Crip gang in Los Angeles, he is currently in federal custody, awaiting trial on multiple federal indictments. He was arrested in March on a 43-count indictment for allegedly running a "mafia-like" criminal enterprise known as the "Big U Enterprise."
Henley is also known for hosting the podcast "Checc'n In w/ BIG U." He was the CEO of Uneek Music and ran the nonprofit organization Developing Options, as well as Big U Enterprises, a community activism organization. However, after the U.S. Department of Justice investigated the Rolling 60s gang, he was indicted for allegedly using his businesses to operate criminal enterprises, facing charges that include murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion, and fraud. Henley has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The former music executive is accused of allegedly murdering a musician who was once affiliated with his record label after the artist reportedly recorded a "diss song" following a payment disagreement.
High-profile individuals such as former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal and NBA player Draymond Green have been among those who donated to Henley's organizations.
Henley has a son named Daiyan Henley, who is a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Currently, only limited details about Jabari's murder have been provided. This is a developing story.
