Elon Musk has purchased Twitter for more than 40 billion dollars. Part of Twitter's community believes the change in ownership will not be good. Several users fear that Twitter will turn into a platform where anything goes, and the concept of "freedom of speech" will be overused, allowing sexism, racism, and other negative messages to exist.

Certain celebrities, socialites, and everyday users have started deactivating their accounts and expressing their discontent with the new ownership. Amy Siskind, Mick Foley, Jameela Jamil, and Shaun King have all spoken about leaving. After venting about the takeover, Shaun King (social activist) actually returned to Twitter shortly after deactivating his account.

Allegedly, Elon Musk wants users to stay and contends that the platform changes will embrace all users. According to Coindesk.com, Musk gave the following statement about acquiring Twitter "I also want to make Twitter better than ever by … authenticating all humans."
