Iowa—Christopher Schwartz, a 45-year-old Black Hawk County supervisor, was arrested last week for two counts of sexual abuse linked to incidents that allegedly occurred in August 2023. He was currently being held on a $50,000 bond at the Black Hawk County Jail in Waterloo. Schwartz bonded out shortly after his arrest.
In one allegation, a victim claims that Christopher took pictures of them while they were incapacitated. In another instance, the victim reported waking up to find Schwartz on top of them, penetrating them. Both situations reportedly took place in his home.
Schwartz has served on the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors since 2016. According to KWWL, he is continuing his duties as a board member, despite his arrest.
KWWL reports, "Christopher Schwartz was arrested last Wednesday and released shortly after posting bond. Despite the charges, Schwartz appeared virtually at the first supervisor's meeting since his arrest. During the meeting, the board discussed a local bridge project before entering a closed session. There have been no known calls for Schwartz to resign. Attempts to reach Schwartz for comment have been unsuccessful. He has not been convicted of a crime at this time."
At this time, there is limited information available regarding the case, and updates will follow as more details emerge.
