Former NBA player Amar'e Stoudemire was arrested in Miami for allegedly slapping and punching his teenage daughter at his Miami home.
Amar'e was charged with domestic violence and had a $1,500 bond. A no-contact order is reportedly in place between him and his daughter. A police report claims he got physical with his daughter because she was disrespecting and talking back to her grandmother. After the incident, his daughter called his ex-wife who he shares four children, and she contacted the police after coming to pick the children up from his home.
Amar'e has issued the following statement via his Instagram account, "Over the last 24 hours, an incident at my family home led to my being charged with assaulting my daughter. It is an allegation that does not square with the facts...I could never see myself assaulting any person, especially my children. I respect, protect, and love my family, particularly my children. As a father, I ask for your grace as we secure our space and privacy."
This incident came a day after the former NBA all-star received his master's degree from the University of Miami.
