Seattle police arrested 32-year-old Gregory Timm for shooting disabled military veteran Harold Powell Sr. in the chest on July 31. Harold, who is wheelchair bound with an amputated leg, said he was approached by Gregory, who accused him of being a fake veteran.
Powell said he plays the tambourine on Seattle's waterfront for donations. As he finished his performance, the 32-year-old approached him and ripped off his patch, telling him he was not a real veteran and demanded to see his military identification.

Things escalated as Powell reached for his military identification to prove his prior military status. Powell then pulled out a holstered airsoft gun, and Timm took out his firearm, shooting the veteran in the chest. Powell said Timm told him he's a "fake ass veteran."
Timm is reportedly being held on a $750,000 bail and faces first-degree assault for the shooting. His criminal record goes back to at least 2020. That year, Timm drove a van through a tent of Trump supporters in Florida.

Powell is recovering from his injuries. He spent over a week in the hospital. Thankfully, the bullet only cracked his ribs and didn't damage any organs. The 68-year-old said he isn't focusing on the shooting; he told King 5 Seattle, "I'm just grateful; I'm grateful I'm here."
The veteran seems truly optimistic, he stated, “I refuse to complain, and I’m not going to let this guy, nothing about this guy, live in my mind for rent free,” he said. Powell's family has set up a GoFundMe to help with his recovery.
