American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson was reportedly arrested for domestic violence against her boyfriend, fellow track star Christian Coleman, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport last week.
The 25-year-old sprinter allegedly pushed Coleman excessively at the airport multiple times. Washington authorities reportedly detained her in jail for less than 24 hours.
Sha'Carri competed this weekend in the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships but did not qualify for the finals in the 200 meters. She reportedly withdrew from the semi-finals of her signature event, the 100 meters.
The Olympic medalist has faced numerous challenges in her professional career, including missing her Olympic debut in 2020 due to a failed drug test. However, she won a silver medal in the 100 meters at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Richardson earned a lucrative $20 million contract with Nike and also has endorsements with Sprite, Oikos, Powerade, Olay, and Beats by Dre.
The former LSU Tiger holds the NCAA record in the 100m [10.75s] and is the first female athlete to run sub-10.8 and sub-22.2 in the 100m and 200m in the same competition. Her professional career high time is 10.65 seconds in the 100 meters, which she ran at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
