Missy Elliot's Hometown Renamed a Boulevard After Her & Gifted Her the Key to Portsmouth, Virginia!

Missy Elliott's hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia, renamed a boulevard after her and honored her with a key to the city. A special celebration was held outside her former high school, Manor High, in honor of her artistic accomplishments. Missy is an exceptional rapper, singer, and record producer who started her career in the '90s.

She was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The rapper released her debut solo album Supa Dupa Fly in 1997. She has had great commercial success as an artist, producer, and writer. Missy and music industry super-producer, Timbaland, created a lot of mainstream success as a team with their production company, Swing Mob. Swing Mob wrote and produced hit songs for a plethora of artists. (Missy & Timbaland are pictured below)

Missy was indeed a game-changer. She has an unorthodox sound and style, unlike any other female rapper. She always pushed the edge by using strange parodies and imagery in her videos and lyrics.

Congrats, Missy!
