A Florida family is mourning the loss of a mother and her child. Pashun Jeffrey was found dead with nearly 100 stab wounds a day after throwing her boyfriend, Thomas Mosley, 21, a birthday party. The body of Pashun and Thomas' two-year-old son, Taylen, was found by authorities in an alligator's mouth in Lake Maggiore in St. Petersburg. It is unclear how law enforcement knew to look for the child's body at the lake.

According to PEOPLE, an affidavit states Thomas is allegedly responsible for the stabbing death of Pashun. Her apartment manager found her on the bathroom floor the day after her relatives could not contact her. The affidavit also states that Mosley admitted himself to an area hospital to treat his wounds and arrived at his mother's house with severe lacerations to his arms and hands. Mosley is now in custody for two counts of first-degree murder. His attorney gave PEOPLE the following statement: "Due to the extremely serious allegations surrounding these tragic losses, our investigation is currently focused on gathering information about the facts and circumstances of the case, as well as our client's mental state."

The family of Jeffrey gave the following statement to WFLA-TV "I want people to remember them (the mother and son) as two kids who absolutely loved each other. Adjusting without them in life is going to be hard." The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with upcoming expenses.
