Florida courts have determined the fate of the four men who killed Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio, legally known as Charles Andrew Jones II, in June 2024.

According to WFLA, the four assailants—Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy—were convicted on all charges, including capital murder, on May 8. The ambush-style killing occurred while Julio Foolio was sitting in his vehicle outside a Holiday Inn.

On Friday, the courts confirmed that they would not recommend the death penalty for the four shooters; instead, they will seek life in prison without parole. All four defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on June 22.

The rapper's gruesome murder took place just two days before his birthday, after he traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa to celebrate. Reports indicate that the assailants tracked Julio from Jacksonville. They rented an Airbnb and were captured on security cameras preparing for the shooting and returning to the property afterward.

One of the shooters was reportedly seen on camera at a restaurant shortly after the murder, wearing the same clothing as at the crime scene.

The first three suspects, including Alicia Andrews—who allegedly orchestrated the killing—were apprehended in July 2024. Alicia was tried separately and found guilty of manslaughter in October 2025.

Julio’s mother, Sandrikas Mays, shared on the Say Cheese podcast that the experience has been especially difficult for her because Joolio was killed just two days before his birthday. She mentioned that her birthday, Joolio's, and her daughter’s birthdays are all closely spaced, making it even harder for her to grieve.

Sandrikas, a registered nurse and medical business consultant, attended the trial but had an advocate read her impact statement on her behalf.

Further details regarding this story will be provided as they become available.
