Halle Bailey Will Star in Disney's 2023 'The Little Mermaid' Remake

Halle Bailey will star as Ariel, the main character in Disney's (live-action) remake of the 1989 cartoon The Little Mermaid. The modern-day version of the film will be released in May of 2023.

Fans were surprised when Disney posted a teaser for next year's release on Instagram. Halle is in the singing duo (Chloe and Halle) with her sister. The group successfully remade the '90s hit "Sending My Love" by Zhane'. Bailey is also famous for her former role of Skylar on the sitcom Grown-ish.

Halle got discovered as a singer on her YouTube channel while working as a child actress. She landed roles in Disney productions during her youth, and the Bailey sisters won season 5 of Radio Disney's Next Big Thing and appeared on The Ellen Show before breaking into Hollywood!

The Little Mermaid is a highly anticipated remake for Disney fans. The trailer has generated 104 million views so far.
