After being detained in a Russian prison for ten months for possession of cannabis oil in the Moscow, Russia airport, Brittney Griner has returned to the WNBA to play with the Phoenix Mercury. Griner has reportedly signed a year-long contract with the Phoenix Mercury and started practicing with the team. However, the WNBA reportedly has reservations about Griners' safety, for away games. The league feels that private flights may be the safest means of travel for the star athlete, yet, private flights are not currently a part of the league's transportation system.

She and her wife, Cherelle made a guest appearance at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards. During the awards, Brittney gave a speech, encouraging America to bring home all Americans detained overseas; she stated, "I want to thank everyone. And let's fight to bring home every American detained overseas!" The basketball star received a standing ovation for her speech.

She appears to be readjusting to life well. We are just happy that Brittney was able to make a safe return to America, and can resume her lifestyle and go back to the sport she loves.

Stay tuned for more news and updates on Brittney Griner and more.
