Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland are giving back to their hometown of Houston with a housing project for the homeless.

According to BET, "The Knowles-Rowland House, an $8.4 million permanent supportive housing project backed by the Destiny’s Child stars, is nearing completion and is expected to open in early 2026."

The building will reportedly be a 31-unit facility focused on serving residents experiencing chronic homelessness.

BET reports that the building is an expansion of the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth, a community facility originally built in 1999 with funds generated by Destiny Child’s first single. Beyoncé and Kelly were reportedly longtime members of the church behind the youth center. The original youth center suffered significant damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and a fire in 2021, leaving it unused for the past few years, according to BET.

The two singers reportedly worked with Bread of Life, a Houston-based nonprofit affiliated with St. John’s Downtown Church that focuses on homelessness, health, and hunger relief, as well as Temenos Community Development Corporation. The project will provide residents with access to mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, life skills training, and nutrition assistance in conjunction with Temenos Community Development Corporation.

Even after Destiny's Child disbanded in 2006, the childhood friends have continued to support each other's careers and life adventures. They have occasionally performed together, along with their other bandmate, Michelle Williams. The trio has taken the stage at events like Coachella, the finale of Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter," the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, and other smaller performances and appearances.
